Detective Conan: The Bride of Shibuya’ Movie Showed in Middle East Cinemas

Arab company Spacetoon Pictures released the latest Japanese anime blockbuster Detective Conan: The Bride of Shibuya in cinemas in the Middle East on April 28.

The movie was released in its original Japanese version with Arabic and English subtitles.

The film, which had premiered in Japanese theatres earlier in April, topped the box office for the first two weeks of its release in Japan since April 15, selling over 2.5 million tickets. It earned 1% more in its first three days than the previous franchise record-holder, Detective Conan: Fist of Blue Sapphire.

The story took place in Shibuya on Halloween, at the Shibuya Hikarie building, where a wedding ceremony was underway. Miwako Sato wore a wedding dress when an intruder burst in, and Wataru Takagi was injured while protecting her. At the same time, the serial bombing criminal from an incident three years prior, which had killed Jinpei Matsuda (Miwako’s former love), escaped. Rei Furuya, a former classmate of Jinpei’s at the police academy, tracked the culprit, but a mysterious costumed figure appeared and attached a collar bomb to his neck. Conan, learning about the incident from three years ago, tried to disarm the collar bomb.

Fans across the Middle East and North Africa took to social media in anticipation, as Spacetoon Pictures had previously released other Detective Conan movies in the region, including Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet, Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer, and Detective Conan: The Fist of the Blue Sapphire. Other movies in the franchise were also broadcast on the Spacetoon free-to-air TV channel and Spacetoon Go streaming service.
