SciComm X and Spacetoon Education have announced a partnership to organize the FameLab Academy Competition in the UAE for the first time, offering young students an opportunity to develop essential science communication skills. The program, owned by Cheltenham Festivals, is a globally recognized initiative designed to help students articulate scientific ideas in a clear and engaging manner.
FameLab Academy UAE is aimed at Grade 8 and 9 students, providing them with training and mentorship to improve their ability to communicate complex scientific concepts effectively. Schools across the UAE are invited to nominate students and teachers to participate, encouraging a culture of curiosity and clear scientific discourse within the classroom. Through this initiative, participants will not only enhance their public speaking and storytelling skills but also gain confidence in presenting their ideas to diverse audiences.
Saad Lotfey, Co-founder of SciComm X, emphasized the importance of equipping young learners with strong communication skills. “Science communication is not just about simplifying information—it’s about making knowledge relevant and accessible. Through FameLab Academy UAE, we aim to support students in developing the confidence to articulate their ideas clearly and connect with audiences beyond the scientific community.”
As a leader in educational content for young audiences, Spacetoon Education sees the program as a valuable addition to its efforts in fostering meaningful learning experiences. Raneem Medhat, Head of Spacetoon Education, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating: “We are excited to collaborate with SciComm X to bring FameLab Academy to UAE schools. This program is more than a competition; it is an opportunity to nurture curiosity and empower students with skills that will benefit them throughout their academic and professional journeys.”
FameLab, originally founded by Cheltenham Festivals, has engaged participants in over 40 countries, helping them transform scientific research into compelling narratives. With the UAE now joining this global network, students will have access to a platform that enhances their ability to communicate science effectively, with top performers having the opportunity to attend the Cheltenham Science Festival in the UK.
Schools across the UAE are encouraged to take part by nominating their students and teachers for this initiative. Registration is open now.
