‘Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM’ Movie Was Released in Middle Eastern Cinemas in July

Spacetoon Pictures, a leading distributor of anime and animation movies in the Middle East, has announced that the latest Gundam franchise film, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, will hit cinemas across the GCC on July 11. The film will be screened in its original Japanese language with English and Arabic subtitles.

“We are thrilled to partner with Bandai Namco Europe to bring this movie to fans in the MENA region,” said Kamel Weiss, Spacetoon’s Content and Business Development Director. “Spacetoon introduced Gundam to the region back in 2000, and for many millennials, it was their gateway to epic battles and giant robots. This release offers fans a chance to relive that nostalgia on the big screen.”

Aadil Tayouga, Licensing and Business Strategy Director at Bandai Namco Europe, added: “Spacetoon has been instrumental in building the Gundam fanbase in MENA for over 20 years. We’re proud to collaborate with them to bring Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM to cinemas across the GCC.”

Set in Cosmic Era (C.E.) 75, the movie follows the ongoing conflict between genetically enhanced Coordinators and naturally born humans, Naturals. A global peace-monitoring agency called COMPASS, led by Lacus, intervenes in regional battles, while a new nation called Foundation proposes a joint operation against a Blue Cosmos stronghold.

The film was first released in Japan in January and has become the highest-grossing movie in the Gundam franchise, surpassing the 1982 classic Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space. It ranked #1 at the Japanese box office during its opening weekend, selling over 634,000 tickets and earning more than 1 billion yen.

Directed by Mitsuo Fukuda, co-written with his late wife Chiaki Morosawa and Liu Goto, and featuring character designs by Hisashi Hirai, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM promises an epic cinematic experience for both longtime fans and newcomer
