Kids’ Food Awareness Series Launched

To raise awareness among children about food security and food safety, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) partnered with Spacetoon, a leading family-focused content creator and broadcaster. As part of this collaboration, six short stories were adapted into engaging cartoon episodes for children, which aired on Spacetoon by the end of October 2024 and continued throughout the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba.

The animated stories, each four to five minutes long, explored important topics such as reducing food waste, valuing food, responsible consumption, Ne’ma – the National Food Loss and Waste Initiative, water conservation, the benefits of drip irrigation, and food safety during family trips. They also introduced children to concepts like reading food labels, understanding allergies, ensuring animal health, preventing diseases that spread between humans and animals, and recognizing the link between animal welfare and human well-being.

Set against Abu Dhabi’s cultural backdrop, the stories featured familiar Emirati family characters and local environments, strengthening their connection with young viewers and helping children internalize the concepts.

The collaboration was welcomed as a creative way to instill values of sustainability and healthy nutrition in children from an early age. By presenting these ideas in a fun and accessible format, the episodes encouraged curiosity about food, farming, and the environment while inspiring positive behavioral changes at home and within the community.

ADAFSA had previously produced educational booklets and entertaining stories for children, with more than 150,000 copies distributed and widely praised at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2024. This initiative with Spacetoon further expanded ADAFSA’s mission to promote awareness of agriculture, food safety, and animal welfare in innovative and engaging ways.
